Abstract
A basilisk lizard inspired amphibious robot was designed according to the movement traits of a basilisk lizard. After the concept modeling, some knowledge of hydromechanics was applied to study the water performance of the robot.According to the result of analyses, some structural modifications were made. Thus, after the above operations, the robot could well satisfy the requirement of water running theoretically. All in all, through these mathematical analyses, the robot was feasible and rational in the theoretical sense. Finally, estimation was made about the driven velocity of the robot. This kind of study not only laid a strong basis on the future prototype making but also was good matting for water movement experiment.
