Abstract
This chapter describes the movements of a robotic arm managed by intelligent control systems constituted by sensors and actuators working in a feedback system. The understanding of the programmable logic controller programming functions, together with sensor and protocol integration, facilitate the comprehension of mechanisms addressing the upgrade of self-adaptive robotic motion using artificial intelligence (AI) controllers. The supervised and unsupervised AI algorithms provide a further possibility to optimize the traditional feedback systems for collaborative robotic and controlled additive manufacturing (AM). AI will be used to improve adaptive control of robot movement in the future. The auto-adaptive motion in advanced robotics is achieved by AI actuator control. Soft robotics involves important industrial applications involving the manipulation of fragile objects. Smart material implementations are innovative approaches to direct research to new production approaches oriented towards AM.
