Abstract
Along with the rapid increase of aging population, shortages of caregivers have become one of the most serious issuesin Japan. To support caregivers, the introduction of information and communication technology to the care fields is progressing. Therefore, this paper proposes an intelligent care support system involving an indoor positioning method for an autonomous robot which watches over the elderly without a surveillance camera. After explaining an overview of the monitoring system with a robot and sensors, the paper describes an indoor positioning method using RFID tags with pressure sensing and employing a machine learning algorithm.
