Abstract

A 3-D ultrasonic sensor system simulator is presented as an aid in studying the real sensor system of a mobile robot. Software-based simulation and measurements help in understanding the physical background of received signals and therefore assists in developing new methods for interpreting airborne ultrasonics. The simulator enables the testing of various signal processing methods. It can also be used to test different ultrasonic sensor structures in a mobile robot, even before an actual realization. This results in efficient overall system design and testing.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
