Abstract
For service robots to interact with the home environment, a flexible platform is needed. To enhance information appliances to make them intelligent appliances, research on integrating personal computers, information appliances and personal communication devices has emerged. Using intelligent software agents to solve the problem in smart environment can provide many benefits including quick response and personal assistance. Smart environment possesses some characteristics, requirements and constraints that are suitable for agents to interact with users and devices. In this paper, we propose a template to construct a suitable intelligent software agent for various smart environments with detail description throughout analysis and design phases. Lastly, a prototype system is given to show how agents can be integrated to a smart environment.
