Abstract

In order to meet the increasing demands of use of technology in the field of agriculture for achieving preciseness and accuracy in decision-making, new inventions and blends of different technological innovations are making their place in traditional farming methodologies and consequently making improved productivity in agricultural industry. This chapter describes the concept of smart farming, application of IoT (Internet of Things, IoT), and how machine vision technology can be merged with appropriate deep learning algorithms, to have better Artificial Intelligence (AI) and potentially revolutionary applications in agriculture. More powerful network capabilities are created by connecting machine vision systems to IoT. Practical applications of machine vision technology and deep learning algorithms are explored in the later part of this chapter along with IoT solutions to agricultural problems. Discussion on different independent robots, working at faster pace than humans, to handle essential agricultural tasks is also included here as final section of this work.
