Abstract
Research and development (R&D) across a range of sectors is being profoundly transformed by the emergence of robots and automation. This chapter examines the significant effects of these technologies on research and development procedures, emphasizing the ways in which automation and robots improve productivity, accuracy, and creativity. Increased repeatability of outcomes, real-time data processing, and high-throughput experiments are made possible by the integration of robotic systems in lab and industrial settings. Cutting-edge robotics, including autonomous systems and collaborative robots (cobots), is propelling progress in industries like biotechnology, medicine, materials research, and manufacturing. Integrating robots and automation will be essential for sustaining a competitive edge and promoting environmentally friendly innovation as we traverse the future terrain of scientific inquiry. In order to revolutionize research and development, this chapter attempts to give a thorough overview of the status of robotics and automation today and in the future.
