Abstract
In this paper, a higher-order sliding mode controller (HOSMC) is proposed for speed control of a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motor. BLDC motors find extensive applications in industrial applications, robotics, embedded systems, and low-speed, and high-speed applications. Speed control of BLDC motors is very important for which a highly robust HOSMC is proposed for precise tracking with reduced chattering to avoid motor damage. The algorithm's convergence has been ensured by employing the Lyapunov direct approach to verify the system's stability. The simulation results demonstrated that the HOSMC offered enhanced speed tracking capability with no overshoot reaction and a quick rise/settlement time. Therefore, the suggested speed control method for BLDC motors is crucial because it offers robust performance and outstanding tracking.
