Abstract

Robots are used in agriculture environment for a number of operations, ranging fromstatic applications under controlled environment to more challenging uses such as infield operations. Nonetheless the robots used in such applications are not designedfor hostile outdoor operations which generates several problems, such as systemmalfunction due to broken wires, difficulties in system placement and movement, poor adaptation and frequent maintenance.

A new wireless robust robot architecture, where wires and cables are eliminated and adistributed control system is designed to allow the independent remote operation ofthe robot links is proposed in this paper. This system could be applied in mostmanipulator type robots due to its independence of operation, application and lowpower consumption, making the new robot system better adapted to field applicationand robust for the hostile environment.
