Abstract

Brushless DC motor has been used in many different areas intensively. In recent years, minimized sized Brushless DC motors which can produce large torques and achieve high velocities are produced. So that designers can develop robotic systems in insufficient place applications. Design engineers make modeling and simulation studies in computer environment to choose appropriate BLDC motor during developing applications. In this study, it is objected to model BLDC motor and driver system that can be used as an actuator system in a robotic system using Labview and Multisim programs and performs co-simulation studies on this model. BLDC motor driver system contains BLDC motor, 3 phase inverter and a digital controller unit. In this work the 3 phase inverter circuit is generated in Multisim program. The commutation algorithm generated in Labview and driver circuits prepared in Multisim are integrated by the co-simulation feature of Labview and Multisim programs. For achieving the advantages and disadvantages of working co-simulation, driver circuit and motor are also modeled in Labview. Furthermore to assist these computer environments simulations with experimental studies, an experiment contrivance is set. As a result, the phase and bus current data of BLDC motor obtained by the tests are analyzed and the capability of the simulations to describe BLDC motor driver system is examined.
