Abstract
System-Engineered Miniaturized Robots The next generation of system-engineered miniaturized robotic systems (SEMRs) needs dynamic physicality, awareness, and functionality—all integrated into a compact softshell. A review of the current start of the art SEMRs by Vineeth Kumar Bandari and Oliver G. Schmidt (article 2000284) shows that SEMRs fall short in many ways. Exploring, identifying and addressing these issues is essential to push the frontiers to set the stage for the next generation of intelligent and autonomously operating SEMRs.
