Abstract
In the present era of autonomous robotics, unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have emerged as a prime technology for implementing security and surveillance system. Development of autonomous vehicle algorithm is a challenging task requiring reliable and efficient navigation and control algorithms. This paper presents design and development of UGV and UAV for securing highly sensitive areas from any type of intruder or suspicious activity. An algorithm for self-governing navigation and recursive path following was developed and successfully implemented on UGV. Live video feed and real-time mapping through UGV was tested in indoor and outdoor locations. A novel algorithm was proposed for localization and autonomous flight of UAV. The proposed algorithm incorporates the implementation of haver-sine formula, complex geometric calculations along with the aid of accurate sensor network to achieve the autonomous flight of UAV.
