Abstract

Swarm robotics is a new approach to the coordination of large numbers of relatively simple physically embodied robots, that are autonomous, not controlled centrally, capable of local communication and operates based on some sense of biological inspiration (Sharkey & Sharkey, 2006a). Swarm robotic systems have become a major research area since 1980's, as new solution approaches are being developed and validated, it is often possible to realize the advantages of swarm robotic systems.
