Abstract

Liquid metal is breaking up the limitations of conventional rigid metal materials and offers tremendous opportunities for developing future generation soft robotics. In article number 1800549, Xuelin Wang, Rui Guo, and Jing Liu summarize the typical advances of the newly-emerging liquid metals based soft machines and robotics. The fundamental and practical issues for making various robotic systems span from intelligent sensors, to soft actuators until biomimetic soft robotics.
