摘要
Advances in surgical robotics have rapidly evolved in recent years, providing reliable trajectory guidance, real-time navigation, and enhanced reproducibility of pedicle screw placement. The advantages of robotic surgical platforms are amplified when facing complex anatomic features or complex long segment constructs. The authors present a case highlighting the advantages of a robotic platform in the setting of a complex deformity requiring thoracic long segment percutaneous pedicle screw placement in a medically frail elderly patient. Particular attention is paid to the procedural details and central role of an organized surgical team in a successful outcome. Spinal robotics platforms are rapidly maturing. Several companies now offer robotic systems with demonstrated excellent performance, and additional systems are rapidly being developed to serve a growing and competitive market. Spinal robotics employed in long thoracic constructs strongly leverage the advantages of robotic technology.
