Lean Automation: Combining Lean with Industrial Robotics in Real Examples

摘要

The purpose of this report is to analyze whether we can have a better automation manufacturing using lean solutions. First, this report is started with the background and problem description. After that the research questions are mentioned and the delimitations and expected results are discussed. The theoretical part of this thesis is describing the research methodology and the literatures review of automation and related challenges. A theoretical review of lean and lean automation concepts has been conducted. In the empirical part of the thesis some challenges of automation are listed based on interviews and case studies. Some observed lean automation solutions are discussed and evaluated. In the discussion and analysis part, a concept of lean automation is presented based on the results from the case studies and interviews. Finally, in the conclusion chapter, the research questions are answered and future research is proposed for further studies.
