Home automation system using Raspberry Pi

摘要

Nowadays, home automation has become more and more popular. For its ability to give
\npeople access to control their home appliances from a mobile device anywhere in the
\nworld. In this project, we use the Raspberry Pi to build a smart system. There’re many
\ninteresting projects can be carry out using a Raspberry Pi, such as to build a wire-less
\nextender, a Gameboy, a simple robot, make a phone, or we can create a web server with it.
\nGoal for this project is to design and build a home automation system using the raspberry
\nPi. User can use web browser to control home appliances, such as to turn on the light,
\nheating system, coffee machine… From anywhere in the world.
\nThrough out this project, student will gain knowledge in areas such as understand
\nRaspberry Pi’s background; Raspberry Pi’s command lines; how to control GPIO pins;
\nhow to use PuTTY to remotely access the Raspberry Pi; understand web server Apache
\nand PHP; understand WinSCP and how to transfer files with it; have the knowledge of
\nweb interface design, understand HTML5, CSS, PHP and JavaScript and be able to do
\nelectrical wiring and mechanical modification for the equipment required in the project.
