Development of MCF Rubber with Temperature and Electric Senses for an Element Material in Haptic Robot Sensor

摘要
By the application of our developed magnetic intelligent fluid, MCF (magnetic compound fluid) to the silicon oil rubber, we can make the MCF rubber highly sensitive to temperature and electric conduction. It is useful for the element material in haptic robot sensor and et al.. By mixing Cu and Ni particles in the silicon oil rubber and by applying a strong magnetic field to it, it can have high density of magnetic clusters. The formation of the clusters is network, and the phenomena can be confirmed by optical observation. On the other hand, the MCF rubber with iron particles has needlelike magnetic clusters. By comparison between them, the former rubber has more temperature and electric sensitivity than the latter.
