Yudai Adomi is a pioneering roboticist whose research centers on snake-like robots designed for autonomous pipe inspection and navigation. His major contributions lie in developing intelligent, modular robotic systems capable of negotiating complex three-dimensional pipelines—including branches, elbows, vertical sections, and diameter-changing pipes. Adomi’s most influential work, “Automatic pipe negotiation control for snake-like robot” (2008, 43 citations), introduced a self-propelling robot composed of thirteen intelligent actuators, each equipped with a DC motor and microprocessor.
