About

Dr. Yong Soo Park is a pioneering endocrine surgeon whose research has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of minimally invasive thyroid surgery. His primary focus lies in advancing robotic and endoscopic techniques, with a particular emphasis on optimizing long-term cosmetic outcomes and patient quality of life. Dr. Park’s landmark 2014 study on "Long-Term Cosmetic Outcomes After Robotic/Endoscopic Thyroidectomy," which has garnered over 60 citations, provided the first critical evidence that these scarless approaches offer durable aesthetic benefits far beyond the immediate postoperative period. By systematically evaluating the gasless unilateral axillo-breast and axillary methods, he demonstrated that patients maintain excellent cosmetic satisfaction years after surgery, a finding that directly challenged the prevailing focus on short-term results. This work has been instrumental in establishing the long-term viability of remote-access thyroidectomy, helping to transform it from a novel technique into a standard option for eligible patients. Dr. Park’s contributions continue to guide surgeons worldwide in balancing oncologic safety with the profound patient desire for scarless recovery.
