About
Wei Mai is a leading clinical epidemiologist whose research focuses on surgical site infections (SSIs), particularly following colorectal and abdominal surgeries. Her landmark 2020 study, “Incidence and risk factors of surgical site infection following colorectal surgery in China,” was the first nationwide, large-scale investigation of its kind in China, establishing the current SSI incidence rate and identifying critical risk factors. Garnering 35 citations, this work provided essential baseline data for infection control.
