About
Taro Abe has made foundational contributions to mobile robotics, with a particular focus on localization and the unique challenges of snake-like robot locomotion. His most influential work, "Localization of mobile robot based on ID tag and WEB camera" (2005), introduced a novel, low-cost, and robust system for determining a robot’s position using simple ID tags and a webcam. Building on this, Abe has advanced the field of bio-inspired robotics with his 2019 paper on "Odometry of a Three-Dimensional Snake-like Robot and its Application."
