SungChul Seo is a rising researcher at the frontier of bio-inspired robotics and reinforcement learning (RL) for real-world control systems. His work masterfully bridges the gap between biological flight and autonomous drones, with a primary focus on flapping-wing aerial vehicles. Seo’s most significant contribution is his pioneering 2024 study on wing-strain-based flight control, which draws inspiration from insect mechanoreceptors (campaniform sensilla) to enable drones to sense and react to complex aerodynamic loads.
