About
Stefano Vidiri is a urologic oncologist whose research focuses on refining risk stratification and treatment outcomes for prostate cancer, particularly in elderly and high-risk patient populations. His most impactful work, “Advanced age portends poorer prognosis after radical prostatectomy: a single center experience” (30 citations), established that while age alone does not impair surgical outcomes, elderly patients face higher prostate cancer mortality due to a greater prevalence of high-risk disease. Expanding on this, his 2023 study of 180 high-risk patients treated with robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) and extended pelvic lymph node dissection demonstrated that advanced age is an independent predictor of disease progression, challenging assumptions about surgical candidacy in older men. Vidiri has also investigated tumor upgrading in very favorable intermediate-risk patients (2024) and the role of baseline endogenous testosterone in organ-confined disease (2024), contributing to more personalized risk assessment.
