About
Simon Butler‐Manuel is a leading gynaecological oncologist whose work has been instrumental in advancing minimally invasive and robotic surgery for the treatment of gynaecological cancers. His research primarily focuses on the application of robotic-assisted techniques for endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancers, with a strong emphasis on improving both oncologic and reproductive outcomes. A key contribution is his work on fertility-sparing robot-assisted radical trachelectomy for early-stage cervical cancer, where a major international multicentre study reported long-term oncologic and reproductive outcomes. He has also been a prominent voice in the debate on surgical access, contributing to a study on survival outcomes for early-stage cervical cancer in the UK comparing minimal access to open surgery. His impact is evidenced by over 30 citations for his work on laparoscopic and robotic surgery for endometrial and cervical cancer, and his research has addressed rare complications, such as cerebral oedema following robotic surgery.
