About
Dr. Shohreh Dickinson is a urologic oncologist whose research centers on the surgical management of testicular and upper tract urothelial cancers, with a particular focus on refining retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) techniques. Her landmark 2012 prospective clinical trial, cited 41 times, was the first to systematically evaluate the feasibility and safety of performing modified RPLND concurrently with nephroureterectomy for upper tract urothelial carcinoma—a procedure previously considered high-risk. This work provided critical evidence that the combined approach could be performed safely, potentially improving oncologic outcomes by addressing lymphatic spread at the time of primary surgery.
