About
Salvatore Pucciarelli is a leading colorectal surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for colorectal cancer, particularly for complex cases involving the rectum and transverse colon. His major contributions center on rigorously comparing surgical approaches to determine the safest and most effective options for patients. In a landmark 2024 European multicentre study, he led a propensity score-matched analysis of over 1,000 patients, directly comparing robotic, transanal, and laparoscopic total mesorectal excision (TME) for locally advanced mid/low rectal cancer.
