Dr. Reza Alipanah is a pioneering urologic surgeon and educator whose work bridges cutting-edge robotic surgery and structured surgical training. He is best known for his groundbreaking contributions to Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) in urology. In his highly cited 2008 study (78 citations), he reported the first-ever robot-assisted NOTES nephrectomy using the da Vinci system, combining transvaginal and transcolonic single-port access—a landmark achievement that demonstrated the feasibility of scarless renal surgery.
