About
Rei Kudo is a leading figure in atmospheric remote sensing, whose work has fundamentally advanced our ability to measure key climate variables from the ground and from space. Kudo’s research centers on the development of sophisticated retrieval algorithms for aerosols, water vapor, and clouds, bridging the gap between raw instrument data and actionable environmental insights. A major contribution is the creation of on-site self-calibration and retrieval methods for sky-radiometer observations of precipitable water vapor (2020, 12 citations), a technique that enhances the accuracy and autonomy of ground-based monitoring networks.
