R. Willingale is a leading astrophysicist whose research focuses on high-energy astrophysics, particularly gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and X-ray optics. A key contribution is his work on GRB 080810, one of the first bursts simultaneously detected by Swift and the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Willingale led multiwavelength observations that mapped the broad-band spectral evolution of this event, from X-ray to optical bands, using Swift, ROTSE, and other telescopes.
