R. Jay Gabany is a pioneering observational astronomer whose work has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of galaxy evolution through the detection of faint stellar tidal streams. His primary research focuses on low-surface-brightness structures in nearby spiral galaxies, using innovative deep-imaging techniques to reveal the subtle signatures of hierarchical galaxy formation.
