Qunguang Jiang is a surgical oncologist whose research focuses on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery for gastrointestinal cancers, particularly gastric, rectal, and colon malignancies. Working from a high-capacity center in China, Jiang has made significant contributions to evaluating the comparative efficacy of robotic versus laparoscopic surgical approaches, addressing a critical gap in the evidence base for advanced-stage cancers. His most impactful work centers on robotic-assisted gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer, including both distal and total gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy, with his studies accumulating over 100 citations collectively. Notably, his 2022 propensity score-matched analysis of 1,164 patients provided some of the first substantive long-term oncological outcome data comparing robotic and laparoscopic distal gastrectomy.
