Pedro H. Bernardinelli is an observational astronomer whose work bridges the gap between small solar system bodies and the large-scale structure of the universe. He is best known for co-discovering the interstellar comet 2I/Borisov, a landmark event that provided the first direct glimpse of a rogue object from another star system. Bernardinelli’s primary research focuses on the outer solar system, where he uses wide-field surveys to detect and characterize distant trans-Neptunian objects and comets.
