About
Pan Hui is a leading researcher in mobile computing, social networks, and augmented reality. His pioneering work on opportunistic networking and mobile data offloading has fundamentally shaped how devices communicate in infrastructure-less environments. With over 30,000 citations, his most influential contributions include the development of the "bubble rap" forwarding algorithm for delay-tolerant networks and groundbreaking studies on human mobility patterns using mobile phone data. Hui's research on social-aware routing protocols has been instrumental in enabling efficient data dissemination in opportunistic networks. He has also made significant advances in augmented reality systems, particularly in mobile collaborative AR and wearable computing. A recipient of numerous best paper awards, including at ACM MobiCom and IEEE INFOCOM, Hui is currently a Chair Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and a Nokia Chair Professor at the University of Helsinki. His work has been widely adopted in both academic research and industrial applications, with several of his papers accumulating over 1,000 citations each.
