Oren Tirosh is a leading researcher in surgical ergonomics, with a focus on understanding and improving the physical well-being of minimally invasive surgeons. His work bridges the gap between human factors engineering and surgical practice, primarily investigating how tool design and surgical modality impact surgeon comfort, performance, and long-term health. Tirosh’s major contributions include a series of meta-analyses that quantify the prevalence of musculoskeletal injury and discomfort among surgeons, demonstrating that over half of surgeons performing traditional laparoscopic surgery (TLS) experience intraoperative pain, while robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) offers significant ergonomic relief.
