About
N. A. Krotkov is a leading atmospheric scientist whose research centers on aerosol remote sensing, UV radiation, and air quality monitoring. A key contributor to the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET), Krotkov has advanced the understanding of how fog and low-altitude clouds modify aerosol properties. In a highly cited 2012 study (154 citations), Krotkov demonstrated that post-fog dissipation events produce large, fine mode–dominated aerosols with submicron radii, revealing critical interactions between cloud processes and atmospheric particles.
