Dr. Mossad El‐Metwally is a leading figure in atmospheric and environmental physics, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of aerosol dynamics in complex urban environments. His primary research areas include aerosol optical properties, air quality monitoring, and the application of remote sensing technologies to megacities. Dr. El‐Metwally’s most significant contribution is his pioneering deployment and analysis of data from the NASA Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) in Cairo, Egypt.
