Mohammad Atarod is an orthopaedic biomechanics researcher whose work has made significant contributions to our understanding of knee joint mechanics, particularly in the context of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and deficiency. Using innovative in vivo animal models — primarily the ovine stifle joint as an analog for the human knee — Atarod has systematically investigated how ACL transection alters the loading patterns of surrounding soft tissue structures, including the posterior cruciate ligament, collateral ligaments, and menisci.
