Mirko Aach is a leading researcher in neurorehabilitation, specializing in the use of robotic exoskeletons and brain-machine interfaces (BMI) to restore mobility in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) and stroke. His most impactful work centers on the Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL®) exoskeleton, demonstrating that HAL-based bodyweight-supported treadmill training significantly improves walking parameters and normalizes cortical excitability in the primary somatosensory cortex of SCI patients (120 citations).
