About

Miriam Parise is a leading planetary seismologist whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of Mars’ deep interior. Her primary research focuses on the design, deployment, and data analysis of seismometers on extraterrestrial bodies, with her most significant contribution being her central role in NASA’s InSight mission. Parise is the principal architect behind the SEIS (Seismic Experiment for Internal Structure) instrument, a highly sensitive six-axis seismometer that, after 42 years of dormancy since the Viking landers, finally brought Mars’ seismic activity to light.
