D. Mimoun is a leading figure in planetary seismology and instrumentation, whose work has fundamentally advanced our understanding of the interior structures of Mars and Venus. As a key architect of the SEIS (Seismic Experiment for Internal Structure) instrument on NASA’s InSight mission, Mimoun led the development of the six-axes Very Broad Band (VBB) seismometer, a feat of engineering that, after 42 years, finally delivered high-fidelity seismic data from the Red Planet.
