Dr. Michael A. Vogelbaum is a pioneering neurosurgeon-scientist whose work bridges the cutting edge of neurosurgical oncology and biomedical engineering. His research focuses on developing innovative, minimally invasive strategies to treat malignant brain tumors, particularly glioblastoma. He is best known for his groundbreaking contributions to convection-enhanced delivery (CED), a technique that bypasses the blood-brain barrier to infuse therapeutic agents directly into brain tissue, dramatically improving drug distribution. His landmark paper, "In Touch with Robotics: Neurosurgery for the Future" (2005, 223 citations), helped define the trajectory of robotic-assisted neurosurgery. Dr. Vogelbaum has also led pivotal clinical trials on targeted toxin therapies and novel surgical adjuncts, earning over 10,000 citations for his work. A recipient of the prestigious NIH R01 funding and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons’ Integra Foundation Award, he currently serves as Program Leader of the Neuro-Oncology Program at Moffitt Cancer Center.
