About
Dr. Melania Guida is a leading thoracic surgeon whose research focuses on the intersection of robotic surgery, thymic neoplasms, and myasthenia gravis (MG). Her work has fundamentally advanced the understanding of how minimally invasive techniques can be safely applied to complex patient populations. Her most cited study, a 2021 analysis of 53 thymoma patients (34 with MG), demonstrated that robotic thymectomy achieves excellent oncological and neurological outcomes, establishing a benchmark for the field. Guida has also tackled high-risk scenarios, notably investigating the efficacy of thymectomy in severe, life-threatening MG (MGFA classes IV–V), where she critically evaluated the risk-benefit ratio of surgery.
