About
Manuel Neuberger is a pioneering urologic surgeon and clinical researcher whose work is reshaping the landscape of minimally invasive surgery. His primary research focuses on robotic-assisted procedures for kidney and prostate cancers, with a particular emphasis on high-quality randomized controlled trials. Neuberger is best known for leading the landmark ROBOCOP II trial, the first randomized feasibility study to directly compare robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) against conventional open surgery, demonstrating that robotic approaches can achieve comparable oncologic outcomes with potential benefits in quality of life. His influential systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials on robot-assisted radical prostatectomy has helped establish the evidence base for robotic surgery in prostate cancer. Additionally, Neuberger’s PELYCAN trial, a phase 3 randomized study, has provided critical insights into using peritoneal flaps to prevent symptomatic lymphoceles after pelvic lymph node dissection. With his most-cited works accumulating over 100 citations within just a few years of publication, Neuberger is rapidly establishing himself as a leading voice in evidence-based urologic oncology, bridging the gap between surgical innovation and rigorous clinical validation.
