About
Dr. Lee Ms is a pioneering cardiac surgeon whose work has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of coronary revascularization. Her primary research focuses on developing and refining hybrid revascularization (HR) techniques, which strategically combine the benefits of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with minimally invasive surgery. Her landmark 2004 paper, "Hybrid revascularization using percutaneous coronary intervention and robotically assisted minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass surgery," which has garnered 27 citations, is a cornerstone in the field. In this work, Dr. Lee demonstrated the feasibility and safety of a staged approach: using PCI for non-left anterior descending (LAD) blockages alongside a robotically assisted, minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) to graft the LAD with the left internal thoracic artery (LITA). This innovative strategy offers patients a less traumatic alternative to traditional open-heart surgery, reducing recovery time while preserving the gold-standard patency of the LITA-to-LAD graft. By championing this integrated, patient-tailored approach, Dr. Lee has not only advanced surgical technique but also provided a critical framework for future studies on optimizing outcomes in multi-vessel coronary artery disease.
