About

Kush Savsani is a pioneering surgeon advancing the frontier of robotic organ transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery. His research focuses on establishing and refining minimally invasive techniques for living donor hepatectomy and nephrectomy, as well as complex biliary procedures. Savsani’s most impactful work, with 9 citations, reports the first successful outcomes of a robotic living donor right hepatectomy program in a low-volume U.S. center, demonstrating that this technically demanding procedure can be safely implemented outside of high-volume Asian and Middle Eastern centers. He introduced the novel “Burn and Push” technique for robotic liver parenchymal transection, addressing a critical challenge in robotic liver resection. His comparative study on robotic versus open donor nephrectomy (3 citations) showed superior short-term outcomes for the robotic approach.
