Julius Z. Knapp is a pioneering figure in pharmaceutical quality assurance, whose foundational work in the 1980s transformed the inspection of parenteral products. Knapp’s major contribution was the groundbreaking insight that particulate inspection—whether performed by humans or machines—is inherently probabilistic, not deterministic.
