About
Jochen Teizer is a leading researcher in construction automation, safety, and resource tracking, whose work has fundamentally advanced how technology is applied to improve efficiency and safety on construction sites. His major contributions center on developing and evaluating real-time location sensing systems, particularly ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, for tracking workforce, equipment, and materials in harsh construction environments. His seminal 2011 paper on UWB performance evaluation has garnered 251 citations, while his foundational 2008 work on automated 3D location sensing for construction resource management has been cited 130 times. Teizer has also pioneered data-fusion approaches for construction engineering, combining multiple sensing modalities to enhance measurement reliability and reduce ambiguity.
