About
Jichuan Quan is a leading colorectal surgeon whose research centers on optimizing surgical protocols and advancing minimally invasive techniques for colorectal cancer. He is best known for spearheading a landmark nationwide survey by the Chinese Society of Colorectal Cancer that mapped current practice patterns of preoperative bowel preparation. This study, cited 14 times, revealed significant variability among Chinese surgeons and highlighted the ongoing controversy surrounding optimal bowel preparation, directly informing clinical guidelines and stimulating further standardization efforts. More recently, Quan has focused on the technical challenges of synchronous colorectal cancer, where tumors appear in separate bowel segments. His 2023 work on open versus laparoscopic multisegmental resection and anastomosis, while early in its citation impact, introduces the innovative use of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence to enhance anatomical identification, assess anastomotic perfusion, and improve surgical precision.
