About

Ingo Borggraefe is a pioneering pediatric rehabilitation researcher whose work has fundamentally advanced the application of robotic-assisted locomotion therapy in children with cerebral palsy (CP) and other central gait disorders. Based primarily at Children's University Hospital in Munich, Borggraefe has dedicated his career to investigating how technology-driven interventions can restore and enhance motor function in young patients who face significant mobility challenges. His most influential contributions center on the clinical evaluation of the Lokomat, a driven gait orthosis that enables intensive, task-specific treadmill training. Beginning with a landmark 2007 feasibility study (137 citations), Borggraefe systematically built an evidence base demonstrating that robotic-assisted therapy meaningfully improves walking speed, endurance, and standing performance in children with CP.
